Help
Everything about living with an Eden Key. If your question isn't here, email support@edendetox.com and a person will answer.
The key
What the key actually is. A small gold key on a cord. It has no battery, no screen and nothing to charge. It's the object you reach for instead of your phone, and the app is what turns that reach into something that counts.
Pairing. Every key ships with a code printed on its card. Open the app, enter your email, and type the code from the card when asked. The code pairs that key to your account. Keep the card — it's how you prove the key is yours.
Losing the key. The app keeps working. The key is the ritual, not the lock. Order a replacement from edendetox.com and pair the new code when it arrives.
Ordering another. Settings → Billing → Order another key. There's no subscription; a key is bought once.
Locking and unlocking
Locking. Tap the key on the Lock tab. Your chosen apps go quiet.
Unlocking. Press and hold for fifteen seconds. The hold is deliberate. It is long enough that you notice you're doing it, which is the entire point — most phone pickups are not decisions, and fifteen seconds turns one into a decision.
Rituals. A ritual is a named set of apps that go quiet together — Work, Date night, Sleep. Make them on the Lock tab with the plus button. Most people end up with two or three.
Routines. A routine is a stretch of time you choose in advance, during which the key won't open the phone at all. Mornings and evenings are the common ones.
The ring
What closes it. Time in Eden — how long the key has held across the day. The ring fills green and turns gold when you reach your goal.
Setting your goal. Settings → Your goal. Two hours is the default. Changing it re-reads your history, so your streak may move.
The sections. The ring breaks at a quarter, a half and three quarters, so you can tell roughly where you are without measuring an angle.
Streaks. A streak counts consecutive days where the ring closed. Miss a day and it starts again. There's no penalty beyond that, and no way to buy it back.
Meditation
Journeys. Four courses of seven sits each: Basics of Meditation, Self-Inquiry 101, Self-Inquiry Advanced, and Identity Shift. You climb the path from the bottom.
Why you can't do them all at once. A sit unlocks when you've finished the one before it and a day has passed — your own midnight, not a timer. Seven sits back to back is how a course gets consumed instead of practised. The gap between them is the practice.
Single sessions. Standalone meditations that aren't part of a journey. Use them whenever.
Self-Inquiry. The technique Eden teaches. Rather than watching the breath, you turn attention back on the one doing the watching. The Self-Inquiry 101 journey explains it properly.
Cohorts and buddies
Cohorts. A room of up to twelve people, you included. Small enough that you'd notice if someone went quiet. When anyone closes their ring, the room says so.
Starting one. Cohort tab → Start one. Name it, pick a mark, choose whether it's private or open.
Joining one. Cohort tab → Find one, for open cohorts. Private ones you join by invitation.
Buddies. A one-to-one link, added with the code from someone's Key card. Both people have to accept. You need to be buddies before you can invite someone to a private cohort.
Captains. Whoever starts a cohort captains it, marked with a top hat. A captain can rename the room and remove a member. Everyone else can leave whenever they like.
One cohort at a time. By design. Accountability spread across four rooms isn't accountability.
Progress and memento mori
Life reclaimed. Hours the key held, measured against the screen time you'd otherwise have spent. Set that baseline in Settings → Screen time before Eden.
The coin. Press the memento mori coin on the Progress tab. It opens a view of your life in months, and an hourglass showing what's left against a life expectancy of eighty. It's a projection from the age you entered, not a prediction about you.
Your age. Optional. Settings → Your age. Leave it blank and the memento mori section falls back to a general rate.
Account
Signing in. Email only. We send a numeric code; there's no password to forget or leak.
Changing your name or photo. Settings → the card at the top.
Deleting your account. Settings → Danger Zone → Delete my account. It removes your account, your key pairing, your streak, and everything you've written in a cohort. It cannot be undone. If you captain a cohort, it passes to whoever joined earliest, or closes if you were the only one there.
Trouble
The code email never arrived. Check spam. Codes expire, so ask for a fresh one rather than reusing an old email.
My streak looks wrong after changing my goal. Expected. The streak is recalculated against the new goal across your whole history.
Time in Eden looks too high. A single hold is split across the days it actually covered, so an overnight hold credits both days rather than one.
Something else. Email support@edendetox.com with your key code and what you were doing. It helps enormously.
